System Shock: Enhanced Edition comes to Good Old Games

Fans of the original System Shock will be happy to know that the game has received an enhanced edition that will now run on modern PCs. System Shock: Enhanced Edition includes support for higher resolutions, added mouse support, reworked inventory tweaks and more. Developer Night Dive Studios handled this remaster. The original System Shock is a very early RPG/FPS hybrid that inspired the creation of such games as Deus Ex and Bioshock.

The game originally released in 1994 by Looking Glass Studios — the developer that evolved into Irrational Games who created System Shock 2 and the Bioshock series. Both Ken Levine (Bioshock) and Harvey Smith (Dishonored) worked for Looking Glass and were involved in the creation of the original System Shock. Bioshock fans may want to give the game a look if you’re interested in experiencing the creative roots of both the Bioshock and System Shock series.

System Shock: Enhanced Edition is available at Good Old Games (GOG) for $9.99, but if you jump on it this week you will get a 20% discount, making the game only $7.99. Check out the trailer below.
