Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PS3/360 will not receive downloadable map packs

Activision dropped a bomb this week while announcing the first downloadable map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops III titled “Awakening” that hits the Playstation 4 first in February. The publishing giant already released a gimped, barebones version of Black Ops III on last generation hardware that lacked the campaign mode, but now they decided to further gimp this version by announcing that no downloadable map packs will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. The worst part about this is that they decided to announce this AFTER the game has been on store shelves for a month and right before Christmas where folks who are still on last-gen hardware may be receiving this game as a gift.

At this point I think it is safe to say that Black Ops III on PS3/360 was intended to be the gateway drug to upgrading to a next gen console and double dipping on the title. If true, this is pretty shady. I would recommend avoiding this version all together and simply waiting until last-gen owners can jump on the opportunity to upgrade.
