Rock Band 4 on Xbox One requires $20 legacy dongle for wireless Xbox 360 instruments
Looking forward to the revival of Rock Band in October? If you plan on using your wireless legacy equipments on the Xbox One, you’re going to be shelling out a little bit extra on top of that stand-alone copy. Harmonix announced via a newsletter email that the stand-alone disc versions of Rock Band 4 are now up for preorder at your favorite retailer. Both PS4 and XBO versions will retail at $59.99.
The PS4 version supports *most* wireless PS3 instruments right out of the box. However, the Xbox One version will require a special dongle in order for legacy Xbox 360 instruments to work on the Xbox One. A game and dongle bundle will release for $79.99 for Xbox One if that dongle is needed. A pretty big bummer for those of us who already have their music collection and hardware built-up for the Xbox 360 version and want to migrate over to Rock Band 4. No mention of the dongle being sold separately, unfortunately.
Unfortunately, USB wired instruments will not work with the exception of the microphones. This means that owners of the Rock Band 1 drum, stratocaster or the Guitar Hero II Xplorer guitar are out of luck. Check out Mad Catz FAQ here for more information.
