Rainbow Six: Siege will lack a single player campaign mode
The art director of Rainbow Six: Siege, Ubisoft’s return to the tactical SWAT series, revealed this week during EGX 2015 that the game will not include any sort of single player campain — a first for the series.
“There is no story mode per se. You go through training, where you get to experience different operators and their devices. You can play against enemy AI in co-op through all the maps. You can customise matches, so that’s what we’re offering on the single-player side of things”
So in a nutshell, the single player content is really just a bunch of co-op content that must include other online players. Rainbow Six always included pretty compelling single player story modes and the absence of this mode may be a deal killer for many gamers due to the $60 price tag. Seeing as games like PayDay 2 are half the price for a similar experience, this is a pretty huge bummer.
The game is currently in closed beta on all platforms. You can hear more about Rainbow Six: Siege on our next weekly update episode of The Gaming Outsider coming this week.
