Sony is creating a Playstation 4 remote play app for PC/Mac
Earlier this year when Microsoft launched the new Windows 10 operating system, along came an Xbox app that allows PC users to stream their Xbox One gameplay on a PC connected to the same network. Surprisingly, the app works very well and scales to the user’s home network to help prevent latency and input lag. It looks like Sony, who started this whole remote play business with the Vita and PSTV remote functionality on the PS4, will also release a PC client of their own. Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, announced on his Twitter page last night that the PC client is indeed in the works but no release window was mentioned. We’re assuming this bad boy will launch sometime next year.
This is great news and good for competition, but we just hope the remote play functionality works better on PC than it does the PSTV. Sheesh, that thing is useless for remote play! If we can use any controller we want, say an Xbox 360 controller, that would be pretty rad! We’ll let you all know when Sony decides to discuss this thing in more detail in the future.
