Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 heads to crowdfunding
After a year of many surprise game announcements like Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy VII Remake, 2015 goes out with another bang with the announcement of a crowdfund surrounding yet another classic sleeper hit looking to get a sequel. Double Fine’s Tim Shafer took to the stage at the 2015 Game Awards last night to announce that he will be creating a sequel to 2005’s vastly underrated platformer Psychonauts as long as they can raise at least 3.3 million in the process.
Psychonauts followed a boy named Rasputin who took a journey through the minds of various characters inside of a psychic summer camp in a hilarious and extremely tight platforming adventure game that deserved way more sales than it received. Luckily for us, a sequel has a good chance of getting made just as long as we help Double Fine out. The game will be heading to PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One with a target release in 2018.
