Hideo Kojima reported to be forming new studio
A Japanese news outlet named Nikkei reported that legendary game designer and father of Metal Gear, Hideo Kojima, has officially left Konami as of today, December 15th, 2015. Kojima seems to be already in talks to develop a new game alongside a new studio comprised of ex-Kojima Productions employees. Negotiations are underway with Sony to release the game 1st on Playstation as well.
Earlier this year, Konami dropped a bomb that they’re scaling back on game design and removed Kojima’s name from all promotional material for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Rumors spread of a falling out between Kojima and Konami that we’re all still unclear about. Not to mention Geoff Keighley dropped a bomb two weeks ago at The Game Awards 2015 that Konami would not allow Kojima to accept his award for Best Action Game. What a huge mess!
This is pretty exciting news and we’re happy to hear Kojima is finally moving on and starting new things. We can’t wait to see what Kojima has up his sleeves!
