Josh’s Top Ten Games to Go Back and Finally Play
Throughout my many years of being a gamer, I’ve tried my best to experience as many games as possible. Obviously this is much easier to accomplish as a child but once you kick into your adult years it becomes an exercise in picking and choosing the games that most interest you in order to fit your schedule or budget. There are several games that have passed me by that I’ve been really interested in playing through. I figured I would compile a list of the top ten games I really want to go back and play through at some point in my life. That being said, several of the games on this list I have indeed played, just not enough to really have a solid opinion on them. All of them I have not finished and I totally plan to go back to during droughts of releases.
10. Bioshock 2
I absolutely loved Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, but for some reason I never gave Bioshock 2 a fair shot. I did play through a few hours of it and I became frustrated with a Big Sister fight and put it down never to return to it. Now that the remastered versions are out, I’m going to give this another spin on PC as soon as I can. I hear Minerva’s Den must be experienced.
9. Earthbound
Yet another Super Nintendo game I’ve dabbled in but never sat down to play through in its entirety. Earthbound is considered one of the best JRPGs on the SNES and I hate having a game with that title on my list. I need to eventually sit down and knock this one out.
8. Asura’s Wrath
Capcom’s last gen sleeper hit was one I’ve heard great things about but it simply flew right under my radar. It looks like an extremely nutty action game with a massive scope and some insane boss battles. I think one reason I never sat down to play it was due to how high the asking price always stayed for this game. Even today it’s worth a little more than I was willing to spend at the time, yet I still really want to play it. I may need to suck it up and finally pick up a copy, or hold out for a Playstation Plus or Games with Gold addition.
7. ICO
I played ICO for maybe an hour or two and was really impressed with what I played, but then I got side tracked with another game and never returned to it. Due to the love that people have for this title and the short length, I should be able to knock this one out rather easily. I need to make this happen.
6. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Being a massive Zelda fan, I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never finished Majora’s Mask. I own multiple versions of it including the retooled 3DS version, but every time I try to complete it something happens that steals my attention. I’ve tried playing this game probably a dozen times and failed to finish it each time. One of these days I’ll finally complete it!
5. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Mario Galaxy was one of my favorite Wii titles, yet I sort of ignored its sequel. I think at the time I was looking for an experience that was more unique and not more of the same. I’ve owned a copy in my collection for quite some time. I just need to decide to finally sit down and dedicate myself to it. I’m sure I’ll love it.
4. Secret of Mana
Yet another SNES classic RPG that I own and have never played. I’m ashamed that I missed out on this one too. Since I recently knocked Super Metroid off of my list, this one needs to be a priority soon; especially since I own the pricey cartridge in my collection.
3. Bayonetta
I’ve been known to not be a big fan of Platinum Games and their style, but Bayonetta is one that people adore and I never gave it a fair shake. I own a copy of the Xbox 360 version and it has recently became compatible with the Xbox One. I may make a playthrough of this one happen really soon.
2. Terranigma
To be fair, we never received this game in North America so it isn’t really my fault. There are replication carts that you can purchase that run on NTSC consoles though. Plus I could always go the emulation route. Terranigma is part of the Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia series on the SNES and I really enjoyed both of those games. I really need to experience this one.
1. Panzer Dragoon Saga
Panzer Dragoon Saga is a game I’ve greatly wanted in my collection, but the price alone has prevented me from pulling the trigger on it. I would love to some day own this game and be able to play through it. I loved the two shooter Panzer Dragoon games and I’ve heard the rare Saga is an extremely solid JRPG. Hopefully someday…
