Nexomon: Extinction | Switch Review

Nexomon: Extinction is a charming and engaging monster-catching game that offers a fun and entertaining experience for players of all ages. The game is clearly inspired by the classic Pokémon games, but it also offers its unique spin on the genre. One of the game’s biggest strengths is its graphics, which are colorful, vibrant, and full of personality. The cartoonish art style adds a sense of charm to the game, and the designs of the Nexomon themselves are varied, imaginative, and well-executed.

Gotta Collect ‘Em All

The game’s story is interesting, albeit a bit convoluted and rushed at times. The player takes on the role of a young tamer tasked with saving the world from a group of evil tamers known as the Tyrants. Along the way, the player must collect and train a variety of Nexomon to use in battles against other tamers and wild Nexomon. While the story is entertaining and keeps players engaged, some of the plot points are not fully fleshed out, leaving players with questions at the end of the game.

Another aspect that falls a bit short is its controls. While the controls are functional, they are not as refined as those in the Pokémon games, which can lead to some clunky movement and menu navigation. The game is fairly lengthy, with players being able to complete the main story in around 15 hours. It offers plenty of content for its price point, including side quests and post-game content.

Similar Territories

In terms of gameplay, Nexomon: Extinction offers a familiar experience for fans of the monster-catching genre. Players must explore various areas, collect Nexomon, and battle other tamers to progress through the game. The battles themselves are turn-based and require players to strategize and plan their moves carefully. The game also offers a variety of modes, including online battles and a battle tower mode, which adds some replay value to the game.

The Final Verdict

Overall, Nexomon: Extinction is a solid game that offers a fun and entertaining experience for fans of the monster-catching genre. The game’s graphics and monster designs are impressive, and the story is engaging and enjoyable. While the game’s controls could use some improvement, there is still plenty of content to keep players engaged. If you’re a fan of the genre and looking for a new adventure to embark on, Nexomon: Extinction is worth checking out.
