Catagrams | iOS Review

It’s a well-known fact that I’m a cat lady. Any game that features felines immediately captures my attention. I also adore words. Ponderosa Games’ Catagrams is the perfect medley of these two very different things. This is the perfect game to play in short bursts to chill out and relax.

Catagrams is relatively simple; all you need to do is create words out of letter tiles. You also have to arrange the words so that they connect in a style similar to crossword puzzles. Doing so fills in pictures of cats that you see displayed around a cozy room. Each picture has a certain amount of puzzles that need to be solved to color in and complete the photo, so you’ll have plenty to keep you busy.

One thing that I appreciated about this title was the fact that you can tailor the difficulty to your liking. You can increase or decrease the amount of words and letters in each puzzle, and even opt for more challenging terms. It allows anyone of any age or skill set to dive into this divinely catty world.

Want A Treat?

I’d be remiss not to mention that I received the Treat Package with my review copy. This is a free-to-play title, and the Treat Package is a $9.99 microtransaction. It allows you to play all of the puzzles, removes ads, and most importantly, half of the cost is donated to a cat shelter. It seems like a steep price, but think of the kitties! I have no idea how many puzzles you can access with the free version, but I can safely say the Treat Package is worth the cash if you’re digging the game.

The Final Verdict

Catagrams is an addictive, chill word puzzle game with cats thrown in for extra measure. It’s great to play in short bursts and there are plenty of puzzles to keep you busy. It makes you think while also being relaxing. The Treat Package is highly worth it if you like the game in its free state, but I can see the price being a bit too much for some players. I adored this game and will keep returning to solve the daily puzzles it supplies.
