Skeletal Soldiers Rise! Diablo-Inspired Dungeon Crawler ‘Skull Horde’ Coming to PC in 2025
Skull Horde, developed by the indie studio 8BitSkull, is an auto-battling dungeon crawler set to release in 2025. Players control a vengeful necromancer, a flying skull commanding an army of undead soldiers, on a quest to take down his own body after being betrayed. Skull Horde features procedurally generated dungeons filled with unique enemies and strategies, real-time auto-battles, and the ability to upgrade and merge units. It will be available on PC via Steam, with support for Steam Deck and Linux.
What We Can Expect
- No Body? No Problem!: Stunt on the haters (your own body) as one of multiple playable characters with unique special abilities, including the option of being a floating skull.
- Super Soldier Squad: Turn your army into the finest assortment of expendable minions that money can buy, combining loot found in the dungeons to gain great advantages, and merging multiple units to make them stronger.
- Procedurally Generated Dungeons: No two dungeons are alike and each level features a variety of enemy types, ensuring that builds must be tinkered and tweaked to overcome their attacks. Unique challenges that reward new unlocks and content will also keep you on your skele-toes.
My Thoughts
The headline said “Diablo inspired,” and I see that because I also see Gauntlet, the arcade classic from the 80s, in the procedurally generated dungeons. Skull Horde doesn’t have a definitive date but they already announced Steam Deck support, which tells me that they have already put in the right efforts. This looks like a game that I would love to take with me. Check out the trailer below! Are you interested?
