Solo Developer Brings ‘Pocket Wheels’ to Life with Racing Fun

Pocket Wheels is an exciting miniature racing game developed by Florian Wolf, a solo developer, and published by Deck13 Spotlight. The game combines 3D platforming with colorful, obstacle-filled environments, inviting players to race, explore and collect hidden treasures. With its nostalgic appeal and creative challenges, Pocket Wheels promises a fun and vibrant adventure for fans of both racing and platforming genres.

The Track is Calling!

In Pocket Wheels, players dive into a miniature world where racing meets platforming in a uniquely creative way. As you control tiny vehicles, you’ll navigate through rooms filled with obstacles, puzzles and collectibles. The game’s charming design, coupled with quirky environments and inventive mechanics, promises an engaging experience for gamers looking for a new way of combining two seemingly incompatible genres.

KEY FEATURES

  • Miniature Racing Adventure – Zoom through creatively designed rooms fills with challenges.

My Thoughts

Even if a game isn’t in my wheelhouse or if it’s a genre I don’t normally gravitate toward, I always support the creation of unique titles, especially if it’s the result of a single person’s vision. Pocket Wheels caught my attention because of how drastic it separates itself from the typical racing game. Of course, right off the bat, a game where you drive tiny vehicles through large everyday environments just screams Hot Wheels UnleashedBut this is such a unique idea with a level of depth in its mechanics that will absolutely help it stand out in a crowded market. It’s always inspiring to see indie developers, particularly solo creators, take on ambitious projects like this.

Pocket Wheels has potential to tap into that nostalgic magic of 90’s-era Rare-style collect-a-thons, while giving players a fresh spin on racing games. I guess you could say this combines the collect-a-thon structure of Banjo-Kazooie with the fast-paced, high-octane racing action of Hot Wheels Unleashed, and I’m fully on board! Especially by someone who has the passion and drive to make it happen completely on their own.
