Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade | PC Demo Preview

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade by 7QUARK is a Hades-adjacent action roguelike that is, at least as of the demo, only sort of rogue-like. The unremarkable but serviceable plot has you playing as one of three characters attempting to find the new Okami that has arrived on earth. The demo lets you choose one of three playable characters, from the sword-wielding Shigure, the self-proclaimed loser oni Sara, and Taketora, the tiger man. They each have their own playstyles as well as motivations for finding the Okami.

The gameplay is very Hades-esque, as expected. You go into a room, kill a ton of enemies until they stop spawning, collect your rewards, and repeat until you fight a boss. However, unlike Hades, the demo doesn’t feature randomly generated rooms. You simply go through the same stages, same enemy spawns, and same bosses each time with each character. It’s certainly possible for Yasha to set itself apart from Hades; after all, the graphics are stellar and the concept is fun. But the demo doesn’t do a good job of building the hype if you’re after a similar action-oriented roguelike as Hades.
