Poker-Based Roguelike RPG “Hero’s Hand” Revealed for PC & Consoles

Villain Games HQ introduces Hero’s Hand, a genre-bending roguelike RPG featuring poker-inspired puzzle combat, launching in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Developed and published by Villain Games HQ, this adventure takes players through the beautifully hand-drawn world of Cardunia, where they must unravel dark mysteries and battle formidable Dungeons & Dragons-inspired enemies to restore peace.

Players will strategically move across each board, gathering cards to form powerful flushes, straights, or four-of-a-kind combos to unleash devastating attacks. As they progress, they’ll level up, collect ancient weapons, cast spells, and use potions, creating unique synergies with Fortune Items and upgraded loadouts. Every run in Hero’s Hand offers a fresh challenge with random encounters and increasingly difficult foes, culminating in an epic battle against the Dark Wizard.

  • Menagerie of Mayhem: Brace yourself for an outrageous cast ofDungeons & Dragons-inspired baddies — from trollish brutes to flamboyant dragons. Each monstrous misfit boasts unique attacks and cunning board effects guaranteed to keep your hero on his toes.
  • Fortune Favors the Overkill: Defeat enemies to earn XP, gold and items, and gather rare equipment to outfit your hero for bigger and bolder combos on subsequent runs.

My Thoughts

Perhaps capitalizing on the poker roguelike success of Balatro, Hero’s Hand looks like a blast! They have clearly put a lot of effort into the trailer and the gameplay, so far. I’m surprised that the release date is still 2026, but if it looks this good now, imagine what it will be on launch. Check out the hilarious and impressive trailer below!
