3D Realms Reveals “Painkiller,” Launching This Fall
Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developer Anshar Studios have announced Painkiller, a high-intensity reimagining of the classic action-shooter. Published by Saber Interactive, the game is set to launch in fall 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
In Painkiller, players enter Purgatory, where they must fight for redemption after being condemned for their past transgressions. Guided by the Voice of the Creator, they wield an array of brutal weapons—some inspired by the original game and others newly introduced—to battle hordes of demonic foes. Featuring fast-paced combat, a heavy metal soundtrack, and gothic environments, the game offers both solo play and online co-op for up to three players. Players must face terrifying enemies and prevent the fallen angel Azazel from invading Earth to secure their salvation.
The debut trailer showcases the game’s dark atmosphere and relentless action, giving fans a glimpse of the chaos that awaits in this modern revival of the beloved franchise.
