Studio Koba reveals the release date for Haneda Girl

Studio Koba, the indie team behind the cult classic Narita Boy, is back with Haneda Girl, a brutal and visually explosive 2D action-platformer set to release on May 23, 2025, for PC via Steam. Known for their daring art style and retro-futuristic flair, Studio Koba takes things up a notch with Haneda Girl, blending a kawaii-inspired aesthetic with lightning-fast, precision-based gameplay. Players will dive into the neon-drenched Data Empire, alternating between two distinct protagonists: Hane-chan, a lightning-quick warrior armed with her razor-sharp light katana Ken-Chan, and M.O.T.H.E.R, a towering combat mech unleashing a barrage of bullets.

Published and developed by Studio Koba, Haneda Girl is a love letter to over-the-top action and stylish design. At launch, the game will support ten different languages, including English, Japanese, and Spanish, making it accessible to players across the globe. The high-energy main theme is already streaming on all major platforms, giving fans a taste of the digital mayhem to come. Whether you prefer to sneak through the chaos or charge in guns blazing, Haneda Girl promises a uniquely dynamic experience where every encounter is a playground for destruction.

What We Can Expect

  • A fast-paced dual-character system that balances agility and raw power
  • Signature Studio Koba art direction mixing cute visuals with chaotic combat
  • Full localization in 10 languages, including English, Japanese, and Spanish
  • A May 23, 2025 launch exclusively on Steam, with the soundtrack already available to stream

My Thoughts

Haneda Girl wants us to believe that it’s a retro-style arcade platformer. The frenetic pace and constant violence tells me that the experience will be oh so different. I am curious if the difficulty level will be high or if it will be a slow increase as the players skills get better. No matter which way you slice it, Haneda Girl looks like a fun game that could get people talking. Check out the trailer below!
