FUTURE GAMES SHOW: Highlights from Gamescom in São Paulo

The Future Games Show 2025, streamed live from Gamescom LatAm—a Latin American spin-off of Gamescom—currently taking place this weekend in São Paulo, Brazil. This showcase brought together a global mix of innovative indies, fresh takes on classic genres, and new titles from some of the industry’s most consistent publishers. The showcase also placed a welcome spotlight on Latin American developers, celebrating a region gaining increased visibility in the global games industry. Leading the charge was 505 Games, who gave us an in-depth look at Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a dark and stylish Souls-like set in a fantastical version of ancient China. The broadcast also takes another closer look at Blades of Fire and the next installment in the Assetto Corsa series.

Wu-Chang Clan — Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Kicking off the proceedings was a gripping new trailer for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, spotlighting its haunting environments, fluid combat, and mythological horrors inspired by Chinese folklore. Set in the war-torn land of Shu during the late Ming Dynasty, the game follows Bai Wuchang, a female pirate afflicted with amnesia and the mysterious Feathering Disease. Her condition grants her power while gradually transforming her into a monstrous being. Developed by Leenzee and published by 505 Games, this Souls-like action RPG offers a non-linear world filled with interconnected regions, over 25 unique weapons, forty spells, and a dynamic Inner Demon mechanic that challenges players with echoes of their past lives. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is scheduled to release on July 24th, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Hack, Slash, Forge, Repeat – Blades of Fire

Previously featured in our coverageBlades of Fire returned to the Future Games Show with a new trailer and a confirmed release date of May 22, 2025. Developed by MercurySteam, known for titles like Metroid Dread and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and published by 505 Games, this action-adventure game introduces players to Aran de Lira, a warrior wielding a sacred hammer to forge weapons in a world where Queen Nerea’s curse turns steel into stone. The game emphasizes a unique weapon crafting system, allowing players to customize weapons using various materials to fit their play style. For more in-depth information, be sure to check out my previously written article. Blades of Fire is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Epic Games Store.

The Fast & The Curious – Assetto Corsa EVO

Rounding out 505 Games’ presence at the Future Games Show was Assetto Corsa EVO, the latest entry in the acclaimed sim racing series developed by Kunos Simulazioni. Although the game has been in Steam Early Access since January 16, 2025, its appearance at the showcase highlighted ongoing updates and affirmed its commitment to delivering another deeply immersive racing sim. Featuring over twenty meticulously crafted cars from manufacturers like Ferrari, Toyota, and BMW, Assetto Corsa EVO emphasizes realism through dynamic weather, true-to-life race courses, VR support and Driving Academy Mode. The full 1.0 release is anticipated for Fall of 2025 for PC, with console ports expected to arrive at a later date.

Notable Highlights

While the big titles definitely got their time to shine, there were a few notable titles from the Future Games Show 2025 that caught my attention. From intense horror thrills to quirky indie concepts, these are the ones I’m keeping an eye on.

The Shadow Syndicate

A stylish third person shooter with a unique twist, The Shadow Syndicate brings a noir detective story to life, featuring cel-shaded animation and cover based shooting. Oh yeah, and you play as anthropomorphic animals! It’s basically an absurd hybrid featuring noir storytelling from Chicken Police – Paint It Red with the detective mechanics of L.A. Noire and the bullet-time action of the Max Payne series. The game is developed by Killasoft and is expected to release sometime in 2026 and will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Void Martyrs

This game has a quite fascinating what-if premise. Void Martyrs takes you on an imaginative journey where the Church won the Space Race. A top-down adventure where nuns in space must battle against cosmic threats, this game’s quirky premise and artistic direction caught my attention featuring a mix of science fiction and spiritual themes. You can wishlist this game on Steam.

Mouse P.I. For Hire

Another trailer for the highly imaginative first-person, 1930s cartoon shooter Mouse PI For Hire. This trailer focused again on the wacky arsenal you can expect to use on your foes. Check out my previous coverage on what is essentially a marriage between Doom and Cuphead. Available to wishlist on Steam, slated for a late 2025 release and coming to consoles and PC.

To a T

From the creator of Katamari DamacyTo a T lets you play as a kid who is permanently stuck in a T-pose, navigating the challenges of daily life with the help of a pet dog. The physics-based puzzles offer a refreshing and quirky take on an everyday struggle, with a delightful absurdity you can expect from the mind of Keita Takahashi. It will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on May 28th, 2025.

Saborus

Saborus brings us a visceral horror experience where you play as a chicken trying to escape from a slaughterhouse. Navigating through a meat-packing facility, you’ll face deadly obstacles and solve puzzles all the while evading plant workers who are eager to turn you into someone’s next meal. With its intense atmosphere and heart-pounding escape mechanics, Saborus truly makes a solid case for veganism!

Interview with Shuhei Yoshida

Taking a break from all the trailers and world premieres, midway through the broadcast, the hosts of the show had a chat with PlayStation Legend Shuhei Yoshida. He reflected on some of his favorite and most memorable pitch meetings for games that would go on to become some of PlayStation’s iconic franchises. Yoshida looked back on some of the wildest and most wonderful pitches he’s greenlit over the years, including Ico, Fat Princess, Journey, Horizon Zero Dawn and Fall Guys. Just goes to show that weird ideas can be winners from time to time

Latin American Games Showcase

Following the main presentation, the spotlight shifted to the Latin American Games Showcase—an energetic segment celebrating a diverse range of indie projects from across the region. Featuring developers from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and even Cuba, the showcase offered a virbant mix of genres, styles and cultural perspectives that celebrated the rise of Latin America’s game dev scene. It was here that I first caught the trailer for Saborus, the twisted horror adventure starring a chicken.
