Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut is Getting a Physical Edition on August 22, 2025

Knights Peak and VEA Games are partnering with U&I Entertainment to bring Nikoderiko: The Magical World – Director’s Cut to physical retail stores worldwide. Originally developed by VEA Games and published digitally across multiple platforms, the Director’s Cut will now be available in boxed editions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S as well as an upgrade for the PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Steam Deck, and Amazon Luna versions (digital console versions would also get the upgrade).

This charming platformer, starring adorable mongooses on a magical adventure, has been praised for its delightful co-op gameplay and warmhearted tone, earning an 80 on Metacritic. The Director’s Cut will be offered in two editions:

The Standard Edition includes the full Director’s Cut experience and will retail at £29.99 GBP / €34.99 EUR / $34.99 USD.

The Deluxe Edition is aimed at collectors and includes a physical art book featuring never-before-seen illustrations, along with a CD soundtrack composed by the legendary David Wise. It will retail at £49.99 GBP / €54.99 EUR / $54.99 USD.

Both editions will be available at major retailers and select specialty stores. Pre-orders are expected to open soon, and the Director’s Cut content will also be provided as a free update for all existing digital owners of Nikoderiko: The Magical World.

My Thoughts

What a charming platformer! I missed out on Nikoderiko: The Magical World during its original launch, but with the Director’s Cut on the way, it feels like the perfect time to dive in and enjoy some whimsical platforming fun. The trailer below suggests that critics were impressed as well, and the addition of a Kids Mode makes it even more accessible for players of all ages.
