Celebrate International Viking Day with a Special Video for NORSE: Oath of Blood, a Turn-based, Tactical Viking Saga Releasing in 2025

NORSE: Oath of Blood, developed by Arctic Hazard and published by Tripwire Presents, is a Viking-age turn-based tactical RPG coming in 2025 to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Revealed with a new trailer on International Viking Day, the game dives deep into Viking culture, portraying both the brutal violence and fragile diplomacy of a dark age world shaped by blood and betrayal.

Set in the rugged wilds of ancient Norway, NORSE: Oath of Blood follows Gunnar, a young warrior seeking vengeance after his father, Jarl Gripr, is slain by the treacherous Steinarr Far-Spear. Players will rebuild Gunnar’s shattered clan, forge alliances, train a warband, and lead them into intense tactical battles where every choice shapes the course of his saga.

With a richly immersive narrative penned by award-winning author Giles Kristian, NORSE: Oath of Blood blends historical authenticity with compelling storytelling, offering players a gripping adventure rooted in honor, loyalty, and revenge. Whether through diplomacy or destruction, the fate of Gunnar’s people lies in your hands—and Valhalla can wait.

What We Can Expect

My Thoughts

Tripwire Interactive brought us one of my current favorites of 2025, Stone of Madness.

I know the trailer for NORSE: Oath of Blood doesn’t showcase any gameplay, and I’ll be (impatiently) waiting for the next one. Still, what we’re seeing here looks fantastic. The story and setting feel like something that could really resonate with players. Tactical turn-based combat combined with resource management suggests a nice mix of depth and variety in the gameplay, too. I’m definitely intrigued, how about you? Check out the trailer below!
