Hollow Home Begins Kickstarter Campaign for Emotional Story-Driven RPG from Ukraine

Indie developer Twigames has officially launched a Kickstarter campaign for Hollow Home, a narrative-driven RPG set in a besieged Ukrainian city, inspired by the real-life events in Mariupol. With no weapons or battles, the game follows Maksym, a 14-year-old boy trying to survive in an occupied city—navigating destroyed neighborhoods, scavenging for supplies, and making harrowing choices amidst the psychological toll of war.

Built around exploration, stealth, and survival mechanics, Hollow Home emphasizes emotional storytelling over combat. The game’s creators hope to honor the resilience of civilians affected by conflict while encouraging reflection and empathy. Featuring hand-crafted visuals, a haunting score, and a powerful message, Hollow Home is a project three years in the making. Twigames is seeking support through Kickstarter to bring this heartfelt story to players worldwide at the level of quality it deserves.

While a specific release date has yet to be confirmed, Hollow Home is planned for PC and consoles, pending the success of its crowdfunding efforts. A demo is available on Steam today!

My Thoughts

This game feels genuinely important. The story told in Hollow Home is heartbreaking and honest. I didn’t just feel like I wanted to play it, I felt like I had to. The isometrc view gives it a strangely comforting lens through which to take in a deeply uncomfortable subject. I can’t urge you enough: watch the trailer. This is one of those rare games where the emotional weight and message go far beyond entertainment.
