Painkiller Launches October 9 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Get ready to descend into purgatory this fall when Painkiller, a modern reimagining of the classic action franchise, arrives on October 9, 2025. Published under Saber Interactive’s 3D Realms label and developed by Anshar Studios, this intense co-op shooter will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
In Painkiller, players take on the role of sinners offered a final shot at redemption, battling through hordes of demons across gruesome gothic environments. Armed with a wild assortment of infernal weaponry, up to three players can team up online to stop the fallen angel Azazel’s invasion of Earth and earn their salvation.
Pre-orders are now live for both the Standard and Deluxe Editions. The Standard Edition, priced at $39.99, includes the “Iron Crusade” skin pack and is available digitally and physically on consoles. Physical console pre-orders also come with the exclusive “Burnished Pride” weapons pack. The $49.99 Deluxe Edition includes the same pre-order bonus plus three post-launch DLCs featuring more skins for both characters and weapons.

My Thoughts
Painkiller immediately gives off major Doom vibes, and I mean that in the best way possible. The gore is gloriously over-the-top, and while I’m not certain if that pulse-pounding metal soundtrack from the trailer is part of the actual game, it absolutely kept me engaged. Whether you’re a lone wolf or prefer blasting demons with friends, the solo and co-op options are a huge plus. The sound design, especially the weapon effects, is top-tier. I already know I’ll be using that spinning blade every chance I get. And let’s not forget those boss monsters…they look absolutely epic.
