S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl comes to PlayStation 5 in late 2025

GSC Game World has confirmed that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which originally launched globally on PC and Xbox Series X|S on November 20, 2024, will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro in late 2025. Developed by GSC Game World, the game is set in a reimagined version of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone after a second explosion in 2006. Players take on the role of Skif, a lone stalker navigating a world filled with mutated creatures, hazardous anomalies, and shifting faction power struggles.

The experience is built with Unreal Engine 5 and enhanced by photogrammetry, along with real-world research trips to Chornobyl. It offers over three hours of cutscenes and a non-linear story shaped by the player’s choices. On PlayStation 5, the game will fully support the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Additional technical upgrades are also in development for the PS5 Pro.

What We Can Expect

  • A non-linear narrative where choices shape the story and ending

  • Full DualSense support on PlayStation 5 for added immersion

  • Over three hours of cinematic cutscenes and dynamic faction systems

  • Enhanced visuals and atmosphere powered by Unreal Engine 5 and photogrammetry

My Thoughts

First person fun with a massive campaign in a sci-fi but realistic arena? This isn’t my usual bread and butter genre, but they’re bringing it to PS5, and I won’t have to worry about online multiplayer. Did I mention the game looks gorgeous? They clearly had fun with the trailer. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a release date and price tag, but I could easily see a copy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl sitting in my hands when the game hits the shelves.
