Occlude, Out Now, Brings Occult Solitaire to Steam

Occlude, the newest title from Tributary Games, the team behind King of the Castle, is now officially available on Steam and Itch.io for Windows PC. The game blends occult themes, mysticism, and experimental puzzle mechanics into a narrative-driven card experience that hides its rules and challenges players to uncover them through exploration and intuition.

Featuring seven Rituals, each tied to a mysterious Entity and governed by its own logic, Occlude transforms familiar card game expectations into something entirely more cerebral. Studio Lead Samuel Partridge explains that “the rules of the game itself” are part of the discovery, as players unravel the puzzles and the narrative together. Based on feedback from its well-received Steam Next Fest demo, a Story Mode has been added for launch, making the game more accessible for those drawn to its Lynchian storytelling.

Occlude also invites players deeper through a free alternate reality game (ARG) titled Seven Cards, Seven Rituals. Running alongside development, the ARG offers additional layers of lore, presented through archival materials and cryptic clues. The game is packed with secrets, and the final Ritual promises a particularly memorable challenge.

What We Can Expect

  • A Solitaire-inspired card game with hidden rules that players must uncover

  • Seven distinct Rituals, each featuring unique logic and tied to a different Entity

  • A newly added Story Mode that focuses on narrative for players less puzzle-inclined

  • A free ARG experience that expands the game’s lore through immersive worldbuilding

My Thoughts

The game itself looks incredibly intriguing. I already love a good card-based puzzle, but leaning into the occult theme gives Occlude an extra layer of allure. Then they drop a David Lynch reference? Shut up and take my money. This feels like the kind of game that would be perfect for late-night sessions on a Steam Deck. Too bad I’ll have to use my gaming PC instead.
