Rebuild Civilization After a Several-Millennia Nap in Kentum, New Trailer Out Now!
Tlön Industries, in partnership with V Publishing, has unveiled a new trailer for Kentum, their upcoming post-apocalyptic adventure. The game is set to launch later this year on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
In Kentum, players take control of Kent, a wise-cracking clone armed with only a stick, who awakens in the year 10,000 after an extended slumber. Joined by his pragmatic robot companion, ORB, Kent must craft, build, and automate to survive and restore civilization. From gathering resources and building farms to eventually constructing automated factories, survival requires both creativity and efficiency.
The hostile world of Kentum is filled with dangerous monsters ready to end your journey. While Kent cannot permanently die, repeated defeats are still a frustrating setback. Fans of survival and base-building gameplay can wishlist Kentum today ahead of its release later this year.
What We Can Expect
- Explore, Scan, and Catalogue: Discover the wonders and the oddities of a vast, ever-changing world filled to the brim with fascinating flora, fauna, and climate events. Classify every animal, plant, and mineral in order to help you survive the passing seasons.
- Craft it to the Limit: Use every material at your disposal to build your base. Start small by turning wood into coal, machine scraps into sheets of metal, and slowly but surely grow your base into a full-blown resource-generating machine that can rival any factory in the world.
- Survive… or Not! You’ll Be Cloned Anyways: Even though Kent will be revived endlessly, that doesn’t change the fact that dying is a major drag. You’ll need to gather and hunt for food, find new recipes, and polish your cooking skills. Building your own farms and vivariums is your ticket to a steady source of nourishment.
- Build the Home Base of Your Dreams: Expand your home base and create an automated system to allow you to streamline and optimize your productions while you are off exploring.
- Traverse Exotic Locales in Style: From vibrant jungles to desolate ruins, traverse post-apocalyptic Earth with your hoverboard, hang glider, grappling hook and more. It is up to you to maneuver with equal parts adventure and efficiency.
My Thoughts
I recently watched a movie called Mickey 17, which felt similar enough for this press release to grab my attention. On a recent podcast segment, I mentioned that I was growing tired of management sims, but this game feels just different enough. Exploring, scavenging, collecting, and surviving are the keys. Then you take what you’ve gathered and begin rebuilding humanity, starting from your base. On top of that, there’s a roguelite element where you keep what you’ve documented and learned but lose everything you’ve collected or built. Would I feel compelled to die on purpose so my clone could rebuild things better? I probably would.
Check out the trailer below and see if you are as interested as I am!
