Team Jade Unveils Project Spectrum at gamescom Opening Night Live

During Opening Night Live at gamescom 2025, developer Team Jade revealed Project Spectrum, its next flagship title published by Team Jade Publishing. The game is scheduled for 2026 on PC. It combines tactical, squad-based FPS combat with asymmetric multiplayer inside a mystery-filled world.

The three-minute trailer opened with a tense debrief. A shaken squad member recalled a failed mission into the Ember Zone. What began as a routine operation quickly collapsed into chaos, ending with an ominous finale. Gameplay moments showed exploration, fast-paced firefights, environmental interaction, and improvised crafting. Each detail hinted at the peril and complexity awaiting players in Project Spectrum.

Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game casts players as Operators who command squads of elite Agents. Missions take place in Ember Zones, regions twisted by a radiant force known as the Ember. This phenomenon corrupts landscapes, cities, and even life itself. Players must build and customize squads, coordinate tactics, and survive against Ember-spawned monstrosities, rival Agents, and the erosion of Sanity. To add pressure, Executioners, powerful beings controlled by other players, roam the world and hunt down intruders.

Game Director Basil Wang summed it up: “With Project Spectrum, we wanted to create something truly unique, a meticulously crafted shooter at its core, surrounded by a dangerous yet captivating world. Players will embark on unpredictable survival adventures, encounter unexpected threats, and sometimes even become the danger themselves.”

What We Can Expect

  • Squad-Based Survival: Lead a customizable team on dangerous missions into Ember Zones, where synergy is essential.

  • Dynamic Threats: Face Ember monstrosities, rival squads, and Executioners controlled by other players.

  • Sanity System: Manage a fragile mental resource that shapes how Agents perceive the Ember’s influence.

  • Creative Improvisation: Adapt with environmental awareness and quick crafting in unpredictable encounters.

My Thoughts

The trailer for Project Spectrum instantly caught my eye with its Resident Evil–style atmosphere and detailed environments. FPS and horror pair well together, and this game looks like it could deliver both. The footage left me wondering: am I the hero, the villain, or something in between? That mystery has me hooked. I will be watching closely as we head toward its 2026 release.
