Tales from Candleforth Out Now on PlayStation 5

Funbox Media Ltd has released Tales from Candleforth, a folk horror 2D point-and-click adventure developed by Under the Bed Games. The title is now available on PlayStation 5, with a PC version already out on Steam as of September 13, 2025.

Tales from Candleforth invites players into a chilling narrative where forbidden writings seep into old fairy tales, transforming folklore into twisted nightmares. The first story centers on Sarah, a 16-year-old girl suddenly tasked with running her family’s apothecary after her grandmother vanishes under mysterious circumstances. When Sarah begins to suspect her grandmother is still alive, she uncovers ancestral powers unique to the women in her family and descends into a world of occultism, secrets, and horror.

As players guide Sarah through Candleforth, they’ll piece together puzzles, investigate haunting environments, and confront the malevolent forces shaping her fate. Each discovery pulls her deeper into madness, blurring the line between fairy tale and nightmare.

What We Can Expect

  • 2D hand-drawn aesthetic. Discover a world brimming with detail, fully drawn and animated by hand.
  • Folk horror. Some tales from Candleforth have been written over an old antique book. But it seems that whatever was written in it before is now being revealed, mixing the world of nightmares with the real one…
  • Point & Click. A narrative adventure full of puzzles and mysterious stories, where anything can happen.

My Thoughts

Creepy! The 2D animation in Tales from Candleforth feels like stepping into an independent horror comic book, filled with haunting imagery that might also be metaphorical. Every frame hints at hidden story depth, making me eager to discover what lurks in each scene. What really happened to Sarah’s grandmother? The occult themes pull me in, and the point-and-click gameplay promises to keep me engaged. I have a feeling this story will deliver goosebumps. Check out the trailer and see if it captures your attention too.
