Wolfenstein II Gets Limited Run Re-Release On Nintendo Switch

Limited Run Games is bringing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus back into the spotlight with a new limited physical release for Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders for three physical editions are now live and will remain open until November 16th, 2025.

The release marks another high-profile addition to Limited Run’s growing catalog of physical Switch titles. Fans can expect to see three different editions of the game. The Standard Edition and SteelBook Edition will be available for $49.99 and $69.99, respectively, while the Collector’s Edition will retail for $134.99.

Unlike the Switch release back in 2018, which required a large download to play the full game, all three Limited Run editions come with the entire game on the cartridge. This means fans and collectors can finally experience Wolfenstein II on Switch exactly as it was meant to be played, without any extra downloads or compromises.

Originally released in 2017 and developed by MachineGames with publishing by Bethesda Softworks, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus follows former U.S. Army Ranger and resistance hero William “BJ” Blazkowicz. Set in an alternate 1960s where the Nazis won World War II, the game sees BJ leading the fight to liberate an occupied United States from Nazi control. Building on the foundation of the critically acclaimed Wolfenstein: The New Order, the sequel amplifies the series’ trademark mix of explosive action and sharp political commentary.

Limited Run’s physical editions are known for their attention to detail and collectibility, making this an appealing option for Switch owners and Wolfenstein fans who prefer something tangible on the shelf.

My Thoughts

Wolfenstein: The New Order remains one of my favorite games of the modern era, an unapologetically bold shooter that mixed pulp action with thematic weight. That makes the timing of this release of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus all the more interesting. Considering the current political climate, where nationalism and authoritarian rhetoric are once again part of public discourse, the timing of this new physical release for Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus feels especially pointed.

Even back when the game first launched in 2017, Bethesda’s marketing team didn’t hesitate to draw parallels to what was happening in the real world. As it was hitting store shelves, the country was still reeling from the “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. Rather than avoid the conversation, the campaign leaned right into it, turning the “Make America Nazi-Free Again” slogan into more than just a tagline. VP of Global Marketing Pete Hines even unapologetically proclaimed “F**k Nazis” on the E3 stage.
