Fatherhood: A Narrative Anti-War Adventure Inspired by a Real Story

Fatherhood is an upcoming narrative driven 2.5D side scrolling war adventure developed and published by Persis Play Studio. A release date and console platforms have not yet been announced. Although, there is a Steam page. The game follows a father trying to protect his blind daughter while navigating a war torn, collapsing city, focusing on the emotional weight civilians carry when survival is no longer about winning, but enduring.

Inspired by a real viral video from the Syrian conflict, Fatherhood explores how far a parent will go to preserve a child’s sense of safety when the world is falling apart. Players guide the daughter through danger using hand holding and hugging mechanics, while facing difficult, often sacrificial choices that shape how she experiences reality itself. A public demo for Fatherhood will launch alongside its upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which is preparing to go live soon.

What We Can Expect

  • A groundbreaking father–daughter mechanic: guide, comfort, reassure, and protect a child who relies completely on your presence.
  • Hand-holding companion gameplay: her navigation and safety depend entirely on your physical guidance.
  • Hugging Mechanic — Calm your daughter in moments of fear; a unique emotional-gameplay fusion central to survival.
  • Choice-driven scenarios where the player must sometimes make self-sacrificing decisions to shape the daughter’s emotional reality.
  • Atmospheric 2.5D traversal through collapsing urban landscapes inspired by real war zones.
  • A story that reflects the lived reality of countless families affected by war.

My Thoughts

I just played Inside a couple of weeks ago, and Fatherhood feels similar in both style and gameplay, though it appears more interactive between the sneaking and puzzle solving. The Kickstarter is launching soon, and I plan to back this one to help support its vision. Click the links here if you are interested, and be sure to check out the trailer. It will likely persuade you.
