Monsters are Coming! Brings Tower-Survivor Action to Xbox Series X|S

Swedish indie publisher Raw Fury and developer Ludogram have officially launched their tower-survivor game Monsters are Coming! on Xbox Series X|S, joining its ongoing PC release.

In this frantic mashup, you play as a disposable peon tasked with protecting a moving city from ancient horrors. Balancing risk and reward, you will gather resources, level up abilities, and fortify your mobile settlement on the dangerous journey to reach the Arch, defeat its guardian demon, and unlock the next biome.

What We Can Expect

• Fortify Your City: Choose, place, and upgrade districts and defensive structures while on the move to keep the darkness at bay.

• Forage for Resources: Collect wood, stone, and gold while constantly weighing the risks of straying off the beaten path.

• Fight Hordes and Bosses: Overcome environmental obstacles, wield special weaponry, and take down tough bosses to survive.

• A Fresh Genre Blend: Experience an inventive mix of tower defense and survivor gameplay that puts a unique spin on both styles.

My Thoughts

Scott is excited about this one, so I am too. Monsters are Coming! mashes up tower defense strategy with Vampire Survivors action, adding between-levels resource foraging into the mix to create an aggregate that looks like pure fun. The build options mean this game offers a playstyle tailored to just about any gamer’s preference. Scott is usually a range player, while I stubbornly default to melee at my own peril. I bet we could play this completely differently and still come away with a similar score. And that’s beyond the tower defense aspect.
