007 First Light Reaches 4 Million Copies Sold as IO Interactive Unveils Year One Roadmap

IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios have officially announced a major achievement for 007 First Light. The title has reached four million units sold within its first three months on the market, making it one of the fastest-selling games of 2026. This performance demonstrates a huge global enthusiasm for the studio’s fresh, original take on James Bond. Furthermore, the strong sales momentum sets up an exciting future as the development team prepares to bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.

Year One Content Roadmap

  • Tactical Simulation Updates: Regular TacSim additions will introduce fresh challenges across iconic locations such as Kensington’s Workshop, Slovakia’s mountain slopes, Mauritania’s black market, and a luxury resort in Vietnam named The Pearl.

  • New Narrative Threads: Uncover fresh intelligence surrounding Webb Industries and investigate a dangerous, unknown piece of technology.

  • MI6 Alliance Mission: Following events in Mauritania, Bond must navigate a delicate operation involving an unexpected alliance between MI6 and Pirate King Bawma.

  • Expanded Gear & Scenarios: Expect ongoing updates featuring gadget upgrades, new weapons, cosmetic options, and leaderboard challenges.

  • Replayability Features: IO Interactive is actively exploring a New Game+ mode to enhance campaign replayability.

My Thoughts

News guy and The Gaming Outsider reviewer Sean Coates gave 007 First Light a stellar 9.5 out of 10. My own review would look very similar, even though I do not carry the same lifelong 007 nostalgia that Sean does. I figured the sales numbers would be positive, and I am glad to see IO Interactive enjoying a massive summer. Furthermore, the news that they are bringing more content to the game and launching on Nintendo Switch 2 sounds fantastic. That new mission involving a pirate king sounds especially intriguing, too!

No new trailer, so here is one of the original trailers!
