Sizeable | Switch 2 Review
Show me a trailer for a cozy puzzle game; I’m likely to be interested. Billed as a couple-hour puzzle experience, Sizeable by indie developer Sander Ambroos drew me in with its simple design and puzzle concept. It might not knock your socks off, but it clearly does what it sets out to do: make your afternoon relaxing with beautiful, non-frustrating diorama puzzles.
Cozy Puzzles & Dioramas
Sizeable has 39 distinct dioramas with the goal of finding three totems to complete the level. Optionally, you can also find the little turtle in each diorama. Each diorama has objects that can change size to solve puzzles. Make a cloud bigger to create a storm and fill a watering hole to find a totem. Or make a box so small that the totem cannot fit inside.
As I said earlier, these puzzles shouldn’t be frustrating, but meant to provide a minimal challenge and a comforting afternoon. The dioramas are varied and vibrant, with some taking inspiration from real life areas/architectures. Often, it feels like trial and error to solve the puzzle, but because these dioramas are so small, I never felt like any puzzle took me longer than fifteen minutes. It truly was just a nice, relaxing afternoon of gaming.
Final Verdict
Sizeable is a charming, bite-sized puzzle game. Not meant to frustrate you, it transports you into well-designed dioramas as you find ways to change an object’s size to solve the puzzle. Aside from the puzzles feeling mostly like trial and error, I really don’t have anything negative to say. However, I would not recommend this to everyone, as it is a short, simple puzzle experience that might not be what you are looking for. But if you are in the mood for that, I think the $6.99 price tag could be worth the experience.
