Chucklefish Announces January 2027 Release Date for Magic Life-Sim Witchbrook
Publisher and developer Chucklefish, with co-development support from Robotality, has officially announced Witchbrook. This highly anticipated magic life-sim will launch on January 28, 2027. Revealed during a Nintendo Indie World showcase, the title will feature a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass and launches across PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S for $24.99.
Players enroll as a witch-in-training at Witchbrook College. Witchbrook is located in the bustling seaside town of Mossport. The life-sim experience tasks players with attending classes, completing assignments in Alchemy and Astrology, passing exams, and unlocking new spells on the road to graduation. Beyond academics, you can renovate a cozy woodland cottage. Spend your time building a local witch business, join clubs, attend seasonal festivals, and forge friendships or romance with a colorful cast of characters. Best of all, the entire journey supports up to four players in online co-op.

My Thoughts
Witchbrook was easily one of my most anticipated games of 2026, so pushing it to early 2027 instantly turns it into a high-profile Game of the Year contender for next year. It hits every single beat I could possibly want out of a cozy, retro pixel-art game centered around magic and attending a magical academy. The atmosphere, art direction, and life-sim mechanics look incredible. I am especially curious to see how deep the school curriculum goes, specifically whether we will have the freedom to specialize in certain subjects like Alchemy or Tarot, or if the campaign guides us to learn every discipline equally. Regardless, this is going to be something special!
