Fox n Forests | Gameplay Trailer Reveal

Fans of 16-bit era gaming should find the latest trailer reveal for Fox n Forests from EuroVideo and Bonus Level Entertainment very enticing. The game was successfully funded via Kickstarter in August of 2016 and releases on Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC this spring.

In Fox N Forests,  you play as Rick the Fox in this 2-D side-scrolling platformer. Rick has a magical crossbow that he uses to attack his enemies as well as change between the four seasons. These changes affect the environment and open up new platforms to allow further progression. Additionally, the game includes hidden bonus levels and puzzles to engage the player further.

Rupert Ochsner, Game Director at Bonus Level Entertainment had this to say: “Level design is one of the most important tasks in game development,” he said. “All elements need to come together in an interesting way and it can make or break a game.”

You can see what he’s talking about in this extended gameplay trailer for a level called “Gorgeous Gorge” in Fox n Forests. As you’ll see, the design and music are reminiscent of games like ActRaiser 2 and Castle of Illusions from the 90’s.
