MathLand | Nintendo Switch Review

When I played Mathland, I had a good time. It’s a first person game where you fight things to get to the treasure. I didn’t see any instructions, but overall is a really easy game to navigate.

Mathy Mechanics

The game had some amazing mechanics and some not-so-amazing ones. When you walk in the game, it’s very smooth, but sometimes it will make you walk in the opposite direction or will walk for you. On a positive note when you click things, it doesn’t glitch or anything like that.

Ahoy, Visuals & Sound

As far as visuals goes, it’s not realistic but it’s really detailed. The main character doesn’t have a name, but he has orange hair, a skull bandanna, a red jacket with two buttons, and a belt He also has blue jeans and brown boots on. The setting is a deserted island, and although it doesn’t change a lot, the setting isn’t very realistic. The music never changes but has an up beat sound. The music definitely matches the pirate theme.

Arrr You Ready for the Finale?

Although it does repeat itself a lot, I think Mathland is a great game to use when you need to learn math. I talked above about how the game functioned very well, but it does push you around sometimes. Overall I recommend the game to anyone who needs to learn math.

To hear me talk about Mathland more, be sure to check out Episode 285 of The Gaming Outsider Podcast around the 1:43:34 time stamp.

This review is based on a Nintendo Switch copy of Mathland provided by Super Indie Games for coverage purposes. It is also available on Android and iOS.
