H3 Hybrid and H6 Pro | Gaming Headsets Review
I love all aspects of games. They are one of the best mediums for artists to show their craft, with beautiful storytelling or constructing awe inspiring landscapes. There are so many different avenues for one to experience in a video game world. However, one that seems to be overlooked in this day and age is sound design and music. Recently, I was given a chance to sample two new sets of headphones from EPOS and I wanted to share my experiences with both of them. So plug in and let’s take a deeper dive into why one of these headphones could help you elevate your gaming experience.
Two Different Paths to Glory
First the headphones, one pair is a bluetooth/wired option called H3 Hybrid and the other is a wired option called the H6 Pro. Each of these options have a wonderful design and are visually appealing to the eye. I have never been a fan of the overly gaudy colors that some companies use, so the nice and simple color scheme that EPOS has used makes me happy. Also, the headband and ear pieces on both models are very comfortable to wear. I have also been using both of them for a few weeks, and both have been very sturdy to everyday wear and tear. I am surprised at how well both sets have been holding up with the amount of abuse I have also put them both through.
Another option both headsets have is instead of the volume dongle many varieties of headsets have, the H3 and H6 have a roto-dial on the right ear. So instead of fumbling around with a long cord, you will always know where the adjustment knob is located. I also love that both have a magnetic microphone boom that is actually muted when its in vertical position. If you don’t want the microphone on you can easily take it off, and there is a cover plate that can be placed in its stead. So why should you pick one set over the other?
For Those On The Go
For many people the H3 Hybrid will be the way to go for one simple option; the portability alone makes it worth your time. There is a trade-off for this, however, as the sound quality does take a bit of hit to include the bluetooth capability. The sound is still great, but it doesn’t seem quite as crisp or as loud. The battery life is great and allows a wearer hours of great sound. The wired option is also nice providing a little more control over the sound output. So there are both options available, hence the hybrid name.
For Those Who Don’t Mind Being Tied Down
On the flip side, my preferred choice is the H6 Pro. When it comes to portability, I prefer using my earbuds rather than a large headset. The sound quality on the H6 Pro is astonishing and has become my everyday use headset for gaming, music, and movies. I will always gladly trade portability for sound, especially for quality this high. Some music pieces I have listened to countless times on the H6 Pro headset seems to almost unlock parts of the songs I haven’t heard before. When it comes to gaming, especially with any type of shooter, superior sound quality can definitely give you an edge as well with the ability to hear them coming long before you can see them.
One Last Look
If you are in the market for a new headset, I would highly suggest you take a close look at the options that EPOS is creating. These are just two of the headsets they have available, with plenty more I haven’t tried. I never understood the love for more expensive headsets and always took the cheaper route. Granted the $179.99 price does seem like a large leap, but the durability and sound quality are worth taking the plunge. Going forward I can openly say I have no desire to ever go back, but granted that isn’t always the option for some. The bigger question you have to ask yourself is do you prefer portability or richer sound, the option is entirely up to you.
The H3 Hybrid and H6 Pro gaming headsets were both provided by EPOS for coverage purposes.
