Brews & Bastards | PC Demo Review

Becoming the Su-beer-hero

Beer games have been my calling since first starting my game review life. Not only do I enjoy trying new beer centered games, I love the taste of a cold beer while doing so. With that, Brews & Bastards has to be one of the tastiest/foamiest dungeon crawlers to ever grace my life.

Brews & Bastards

Resembling many other dungeon crawl games, Brews & Bastards is a top down, shoot’em up style game that continues to bring a smile to my face. Starting with each room, mini bastards are after you with their own unique way of hurting you. However, the labyrinth has special power-ups to help you take care of these little rascals. Power-ups like the Moscow Mule where a statue of a mule comes down and squishes the enemy and explodes. The Champagne Corks shoot out of the bottle like a rocket to take down distant enemies. My favorite being the Molotov Cocktail and we already know how devastating those can be.

At the end of the dungeon, you must face what I can only assume is the one who stole the Brew Stone. A giant, armored knight-baby comes out of nowhere and in order to beat it, you have to play beer pong. Now, if you know anything about me, many years ago I won a beer pong tournament and was crowned the Champ. I did not disappoint in this game either. Winning was a breeze and I was able to continue on through the Taverns basement of fun!

Brews & Bastards

Another way to play is 4-person co-op multiplayer, yet this option was not available to try just yet.

Hop-timistic Gameplay

Brews & Bastards is an up-and-coming dungeon crawler that dives deep into the depths of Muneshine Tavern. Traverse your way through this epic game of fighting off wards of little demon bastards, all while finding the stolen Brew Stone. Oh, and don’t forget to enjoy a cold brew while killing those little bastards.

Growing up, Spencer was gaming every second he could on the NES, even after his mother would tell him to go to bed. Playing games like Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3, Street Fighter 2010, and his personal favorite: Star Wars. The first console he bought on his own was the PS1 then the Nintendo 64. Which lead him to believe that he could turn his passion into a hobby and forever change the way people think of the video gaming world. Spencer also has been serving in the Army for the last 12 years. After attending and winning the Nintendo Switch Lite at the very first R2V2 Game Con, Spencer jumped at the chance at being the newest Contributing Writer for The Gaming Outsider. Bringing in his knowledge of video games and good looks!
