Namco Games Coming to Atari 50 in Upcoming DLC

In a surprise announcement, Digital Eclipse and Atari are adding a variety of iconic titles from famed game maker Namco to the Atari 50 collection. The news was revealed via a trailer, giving fans a first look at the upcoming DLC pack. Following in the footsteps of previous DLCs The Wider World of Atari, and The First Console War, this latest DLC pack promises to expand the impressive lineup of retro favorites with timeless classics that helped shape the arcade and console landscape. Perhaps the most noteworthy inclusion in this new collection is the trio of Pac-Man adaptations, including the infamous Atari 2600 port. Other highlights include classic shooters like Galaga, Galaxian, Xevious, and more. Like the previous DLC packs, this one promises hours of nostalgic arcade action across multiple Atari systems, including the 2600, 5200, 7800, and the Atari 8-bit family.

Wakka Wakka

As with the base Atari 50 game and previous DLCs, these titles will be presented in an interactive timeline format, allowing players to explore the history and evolution of each game with the loving care and attention that Digital Eclipse is known for. One standout addition is the US arcade versions of Dig Dug and Xevious, developed by Namco and released stateside by Atari, now playable at home for the very first time—a true treat for retro enthusiasts.

Priced at $7.99 USD, this DLC follows the base Atari 50 collection and prior expansions in offering not only classic gameplay but also rich historical context, including behind-the-scenes materials and exclusive interviews with key game designers from both Atari and Namco. With a release date expected soon, this pack continues Digital Eclipse’s commitment to preserving and celebrating gaming history with care and authenticity.

KEY FEATURES

  • Three Atari home ports of Pac-Man – 2600, 5200 and Atari 8-bit family.
  • Arcade versions of Dig Dug and Xevious will be playable at home for first time ever.
  • Interactive timeline exploring the history of Namco games on Atari platforms featuring more archival materials, documents, photos and video interviews.

My Thoughts

When I reviewed the original Atari 50 collection, I pointed out that it only included games actually made by Atari. Even the First Console War DLC, with its nod to Intellivision, still featured games developed in-house by Atari. This new Namco pack changes that. For the first time, Atari 50 is bringing in games that weren’t made by Atari at all, but by Namco — legends in their own right. We’re finally getting the real arcade versions of classics like Dig Dug and Xevious, not just the home console ports Atari handled back in the day.

It’s a pretty big moment for the collection, especially since some of these arcade versions have never been playable at home before. What’s exciting is how Atari 50 keeps growing. With each new content drop, it’s turning into something more than just a cool retro collection. It feels like a true preservation project — like a playable museum. The interactive timelines, behind-the-scenes extras, and interviews keep adding more context and heart. It’s clear Digital Eclipse really cares about honoring this history the right way.
