Korean Mythology-Inspired RPG ‘Project TAL’ Announced with a Stunning New Trailer
Publisher WEMADE MAX Co. Ltd and developer MADNGINE have officially unveiled Project TAL, an ambitious open-world action RPG coming to PC and consoles in 2027.
This AAA single-player experience reimagines Korea’s traditional Tal masks and the mythology surrounding them into a vast, immersive fantasy world. The announcement trailer highlights cinematic, fast-paced combat as players leap onto towering monsters, strike at weak points, and unleash counterattacks and skill combos to turn the tide of battle.
A key feature of Project TAL is its companion system. Each NPC ally brings unique skills, personalities, and combat roles. They range from defensive, offensive, or magical support, allowing for seamless cooperation mid-battle. Players might catch a falling companion or watch a support ally summon a protective barrier in the heat of combat.
According to WEMADE MAX CEO Sohn Myun-seok, Project TAL combines an emotionally resonant story about healing a wounded world with the thrilling action of a classic RPG. With MADNGINE’s technical expertise, this upcoming title aims to deliver a world-class experience when it launches globally in 2027.
What We Can Expect
- Climbing action, where players can leap onto massive monsters to deliver devastating strikes.
- A weakness exploit system that allows players to target enemy weak spots and shift the flow of battle.
- Tactical counterattacks and skill combos performed alongside companions in fast-paced combat.
- Intelligent NPC companions will shift the tide of battle, dynamically responding to aid the player in combat.
My Thoughts
A Triple-A looking effort with amazing visuals, great music, and a high-end trailer? Those battle scenes looked incredible! The cinematic flow of combat grabbed my attention right away. Watching the player vault onto huge enemies to hit weak points looked thrilling. The companion system also stood out, showing teamwork that felt surprisingly natural. I loved seeing moments like catching a falling ally or watching a magic user raise a shimmering barrier mid-battle.
The traditional Tal mask inspiration, combined with the mythological undertones and promise of emotional storytelling, gives this project a distinct identity. This one quickly landed on my radar. If WEMADE MAX and MADNGINE can deliver a world that feels as alive as that trailer looks, Project TAL could be something truly special.
