Fighting Card Game Sequel Yomi 2 Hits Consoles May 13

Experience the essence of competitive fighting in a whole new format with Yomi 2, developed and published by Sirlin Games. Following its initial PC debut, the title is officially coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on May 13, 2026. Created by a former Street Fighter lead designer, this fighting card game tasks players with picking a character deck and a specialized gem to engage in strategic battles. You must navigate the tension of blocking high and low attacks, throwing defensive opponents, and landing devastating combos. Because the game is a “rebooted” sequel, it offers a refined experience that stands alone while carrying forward the mature competitive legacy of the original title.

The gameplay features several innovative mechanics designed to simulate the fast-paced decisions of a real-time fighter. Specifically, players can use the exchange system to swap cards in their hand with those in their discard pile to build the perfect offensive. You can also spend super meter on powerful moves or activate a “gem storm” to turn the tides of battle. Whether you are navigating the extensive single-player career mode or competing in online synchronous and asynchronous play, logic and matchup knowledge are your greatest tools. Consequently, Yomi 2 provides a deep tactical experience for both character loyalists and newcomers across all major consoles and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

What We Can Expect

  • Dynamic Fighting Systems: Master high and low “mixups,” projectiles, and chain combos. Use the new exchange symbol to build stronger hands and spend super meter on game-changing super moves.

  • Deep Customization: Choose from 20 playable characters and augment them with one of six different gems. Each gem provides unique special moves and a once-per-game “gem storm” ability.

  • Substantial Content Modes: Rise through the ranks in a single-player career mode by visiting venues and winning tournaments. For competitive play, the game offers local pass-and-play, single-player vs. AI, and robust online modes.

My Thoughts

I’ve never thought of myself as a huge fan of games like Yomi 2, but the trailer does a fantastic job of changing my mind (as does our own Mike Card’s review of the Early Access version of the game). The action sequences look like they will keep me engaged while simultaneously testing my brain power to build the best fighter and make the right tactical decisions. Then, they spoke my love language: “No Loot Boxes.” It is also worth noting the game’s lead designer worked on Street Fighter, so the competitive DNA here is the real deal. I will definitely be checking out Yomi 2 when it hits consoles this May. Check out the trailer below!
