Order of the Sinking Star Announced for Nintendo Switch 2 and PC
Publisher Arc Games and developer Thekla, Inc. are officially bringing Order of the Sinking Star to the Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam later this year. Thekla, Inc. was originally established in 2009, and the studio is based in Denver, CO. This independent team focuses on creating games with high artistic and technical quality. This highly anticipated title represents the studio’s most ambitious puzzle adventure yet. The project is led by legendary game designer Jonathan Blow. He is well known for creating critically acclaimed past titles like Braid and The Witness.
The upcoming 2026 release transports players to a sprawling, interconnected realm. This world is filled with curious magic, dangerous contraptions, and vicious monsters. Players will explore four distinct worlds, but each one features its own unique mechanics, characters, and stories. As these worlds merge, the various puzzle systems intertwine to create surprising new possibilities for exploration and storytelling. The game takes full advantage of the portability and instant-resume features of Nintendo’s latest console. This allows fans to seamlessly take on challenges either on the go or from home. In addition to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, the game will launch on Steam with full Steam Deck support.

My Thoughts
The concept behind this game looks absolutely fantastic, and it is easily one of my most anticipated titles for the new hardware. The graphics look incredibly crisp, and the sheer depth of gameplay involved has me genuinely intrigued. We are going to get to traverse four different puzzle areas with entirely different dynamics in each one, so the experience should stay fresh the whole way through. The puzzles themselves look incredibly fun. They beautifully balance clever mechanics with that signature design philosophy we expect from this team. Our own David Newman is hoping to review Order of the Sinking Star for The Gaming Outsider when it drops, but until then, I cannot wait to see more of it.
