Cliff Bleszinski Backs New Asymmetrical Horror Game Soul Walker

At a recent presentation, publisher and developer Epoch Media Studios officially announced Soul Walker. This highly atmospheric 3v1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game features industry veteran and Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski as an executive producer. The team scheduled the terrifying title to launch in 2027 for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. This collaboration aims to deliver a cinematic nightmare where silence serves as your only shield. Furthermore, the game centers around a unique sound-based gameplay system that forces players to carefully manage every noise they create.

Additionally, the gameplay challenges three survivors to navigate an evolving world while fleeing from an ancient blind entity that hunts exclusively by sound. Every footstep or dropped object can instantly draw the creature to your location. To escape, players must complete tense trials and solve environmental puzzles together. However, the introduction of hidden roles ensures that self-preservation can quickly outweigh loyalty. Ultimately, no two matches unfold the same way, creating a strategic balance between movement, trust, and risk.

What We Can Expect

  • Sound-Based Survival: A tense 3v1 asymmetrical system where an ancient blind entity tracks your every footstep, making silence your most valuable asset.

  • Shifting Trust and Betrayal: Hidden roles and unpredictable player dynamics mean that teamwork can fracture at any moment when self-preservation takes over.

  • Cinematic Horror Influence: A highly atmospheric world shaped by creative influences across film and fashion to deliver a distinct, unsettling visual identity.

My Thoughts

You had Scott at “Produced By Gears of War Creator: Cliff Bleszinski.” How could I tell him no when he asked me to write his latest game?

Actual events that sound like jokes aside, Soul Walker clicks the checkboxes for me, too. Spooky corridors, effective jump scares, and terrifying monsters await. Furthermore, that sound-sensitive mechanic is going to make for some incredibly tense moments when you are trying not to make a peep. I just hope my teammates don’t panic and leave me to the monster when things get loud.
