Slain 2: The Beast Within Launches Steam Demo and Confirms Physical Release

Developer Steel Mantis and publisher Silver Lining Interactive are thrilled to announce that Slain 2: The Beast Within is officially expanding its hunt. Originally announced for PC, the gothic hack-and-slash sequel will also launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

To celebrate this multi-platform reveal, a newly released animated trailer brings the signature heavy metal fantasy to life. Furthermore, players can sate their thirst for blood early because a playable demo has just launched on Steam.

For physical media collectors, the teams confirmed that a boxed edition for PlayStation 5 will hit retail shelves alongside the digital release. Pre-orders are open now via Silver Lining Direct and local retailers for £19.99/$24.99/€24.99.

In Slain 2: The Beast Within, the battle rages on against the tyrannical demonic forces of Lord Vroll. Players step into the heavy-metal-soaked boots of Prince Akran, the last of the legendary Wolf Knights. Armed with the sentient blade Bathoryn, Akran must navigate a dying world in search of sacred relics. When steel is not enough, Akran can surrender to the curse in his veins to transform into a feral werewolf under the full moon.

My Thoughts

This looks fun! The graphics have a retro 16-bit style, but with the crisp quality you expect on modern consoles. The ability to transform into a wolf sounds like an ability that will come in handy, though it is definitely something I would try to save for the boss battles. Between that and the unique, beautiful levels, I cannot wait to give Slain 2 a try!
