Square Enix Reveals Final Fantasy VII Revelation for PC and Consoles
Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy VII Revelation at Summer Game Fest Live. This title serves as the third and final entry in the critically acclaimed remake series. The game will launch in Spring 2027 simultaneously for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Consequently, fans across all major platforms can experience the conclusion at the same time. Director Naoki Hamaguchi and voice actor Matt Mercer debuted the reveal trailer, which showcased an extended look at the gameplay.
The story follows Cloud Strife and his companions as they face a world on the brink of annihilation. While grieving a fallen ally, the party must stop Sephiroth from reaching godhood. They take to the skies aboard the airship Highwind to race against Meteor. This ultimate destructive magic threatens to obliterate the planet entirely. This entry delivers a breathtaking finale to one of the most ambitious projects in gaming history.
Players can freely explore the entire planet via the Highwind. You can drop in via parachute anywhere to seamlessly transition from air to land. Furthermore, the party must divide and conquer as enormous Weapons unleash terror across the globe. You will choose where to go and who to help in any order. These decisions can impact specific aspects of the characters’ stories. Finally, the hybrid battle system returns with new playable characters and perfected tactical options.
What We Can Expect
-
Full Global Exploration: You can pilot the iconic Highwind airship across a world without boundaries and parachute down to explore any location seamlessly.
-
Non-Linear Storytelling: Players choose their own path to resolve conflicts across the planet, making critical decisions that can impact the stories of legendary heroes.
-
Refined Hybrid Combat: The acclaimed battle system returns with expanded tactical modes, new playable party members, and powerful new abilities for the final stand.
My Thoughts
Historically, classic turn-based JRPGs are usually an immediate “no” for me. However, I need to get my head on straight, because the vast majority of modern Final Fantasy games are not even turn-based! This gorgeous reveal trailer looks absolutely amazing, and the sweeping scale of the world is sure to please long-time fans of the series. Plus, launching simultaneously across every major platform means you get to play on your console of choice, which only adds to the massive appeal of this grand finale.
