Star Wars: Galactic Racer At Summer Games Fest

At Summer Game Fest 2026, publisher Secret Mode and developer Fuse Games shared a deeper look at Star Wars: Galactic Racer. This high-stakes racing adventure is made in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and will launch on October 6th, 2026. The title is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Consequently, fans can look forward to experiencing the thrill of podracing across major platforms simultaneously. The latest presentation showcased a bitter rivalry between a league champion and a mysterious challenger, while also debuting a brand-new location called Derven Acos.

The single-player campaign introduces a runs-based structure set within the lawless Outer Rim’s underground Galactic League. Players control Shade, a lone racer recruited to take down the corrupt, well-connected champion Kestar Bool. As you progress, you must carve your own path by choosing between different events with unique unlocks. However, if you crash too many times, you will wreck out of the tour completely. When this happens, drivers must regroup, rebuild, and start the tour from scratch. Fortunately, specific perks and unlocks earned in previous attempts will carry over to help on the next run.

Between events, players can explore the paddock to interact with fellow racers and visit a unique workshop run by a mechanic named Hibi. In the workshop, you can fit new parts to gain stat boosts and abilities that match your personal driving style. The journey culminates at Derven Acos, a custom-built arena gauntlet that combines every brutal planetary condition encountered throughout the circuit. Beyond the main story, players can jump straight into the action via Arcade mode or compete against others in unique, podracer-focused online multiplayer events.

What We Can Expect

  • Runs-Based Roguelike Campaign

  • The Ultimate Gauntlet Arena

  • Expanded Podracing Multiplayer

My Thoughts

Star Wars: Galactic Racer has easily become one of my most anticipated games of the year. My 30-year desire to hop into a cockpit and defeat that scum Sebulba is as strong as it has ever been. The Star Wars name alone puts an instant exclamation mark right above my head!

On top of the nostalgia, the runs-based campaign structure from the press release sounds incredibly intriguing. Having to manage your parts with the mechanic Hibi and risking a total tour restart if you wreck out brings a fantastic rogue-like tension to the racing genre. September and October are shaping up to be absolutely massive months for gaming.
