E3 2019

Ubisoft E3 2019 Press Conference Recap

The next press conference at 2019’s E3 was presented by Ubisoft. We saw a few surprises, but unfortunately the biggest surprises were the lack of games we were expecting to see. Here’s a quick recap of everything shown during the conference.

Assassin’s Creed Symphony

If you wanted a reminder of just how beautiful the music is in the Assassin’s Creed games, you won’t want to miss the show opener from Ubisoft’s conference. Several professional performers played a medley of songs from several games in the series, and it was beautiful. Assassin’s Creed Symphony will be on tour worldwide in 2020. You can check their site for more details and to see if they will be coming to a city near you.

Watch Dogs: Legion

Although Watch Dogs: Legion was leaked before the actual press conference, it was refreshing to see just how ambitious this game looks to be. The London setting is dystopian in nature, which falls in line with the series. What makes this game stand out is the fact that players will have the ability to take on the roll of any NPC in the game. The sheer voice recording alone makes Watch Dogs: Legion an impressive feat. Watch the lengthy video below to find out if the gameplay seems up your alley at all.

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet

In a surprise move, Rob McElhenney of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fame took the stage to announce his upcoming TV show. Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is based on the fictional game from a popular series. You can watch the trailer below; just don’t be disappointed when you can’t actually play the game.

Rainbow Six: Siege – Operation Phantom Sight

Rainbow Six: Siege is getting a new update called Phantom Sight. It introduces two new operators, Nøkk and Warden, and it offers a few gameplay upgrades. Check out The Rainbow Six: Siege site for more details, or watch the trailer from the presser below.

Adventure Time/Brawlhalla Crossover

One of the more unexpected announcements from the show was this bizarre crossover. It looks like the characters from the television show Adventure Time will make an appearance in the 2-D brawler Brawlhalla. Here’s the trailer.

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

One of our community’s most-anticipated games from Ubisoft is Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Jon Bernthal took the stage to unveil the latest trailer for the game. The beta drops on September 5th, and we were also given a tease of something Terminator-related.

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad

Sadly, the only mention of Sam Fisher was in a mobile game called Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad. Very little is known about this one, but it appears to have characters from several popular Ubisoft series. You can pre-register for the game now.

Just Dance 2020

It’s hard to believe that the Just Dance series is already ten years old. Ubisoft celebrated with its usual on-stage dance party featuring current pop hits. Oh, and apparently you can get your hands on some custom Just Dance sneakers on your birthday. Cool, I guess?

For Honor: Shadows of Hitokiri

Shadows of Hitokiri is an limited expansion for For Honor. We know very little about what that entails other than it will be limited event. It’s available now until June 27th.

Rainbow Six: Quarantine

The next trailer shown was for a new multiplayer experience called Rainbow Six: Quarantine. This is a three-player cooperative PvE game that looks to have some promise. Unfortunately, the only footage we saw didn’t include actual gameplay. You can check it out below.

Division 2

Ubisoft’s popular looter-shooter, The Division 2, is getting multiple updates, which are highlighted in the trailers below. The developer/publisher promises iconic locations like The Pentagon. Additionally, the game will be free to play from June 13th through the 16th. They also briefly mentioned the upcoming The Division 2 movie starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Uplay Plus

It seems apparent that subscription streaming is the future of video games. Ubisoft, not to be left out of the fun, announced their subscription service called “Uplay Plus”. This service offers over 100 games, including new releases, for only $14.99. It will be available on PC and Google Stadia. There was no mention of the service being available on console.

Roller Champions

Ubisoft seems to want a piece of the Rocket League action. Their trailer for Roller Champions sure felt familiar while also offering a bit of originality to the formula. The gameplay is described as a “team-based player vs. player sports game that is as much fun to watch as it is to play.”

Gods & Monsters

The press conference closed with a very interesting title that definitely scratched my Zelda-loving itch. Gods & Monsters looks like it’s trying to be a Breath of the Wild set in a mythological universe. The trailer didn’t show much, but looks very promising. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes on this title.

And that will do it for Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference. Sadly, no info on Assassin’s Creed, and no new Splinter Cell game. But there’s still plenty of cool games to look forward to on the show floor.

Be sure to check out our other recaps on press conferences from EA, Microsoft, Devolver Digital, and Bethesda. Also, stay tuned for our coverage on Square Enix‘s press conference later tonight.
