E3 2021

E3 2021 | Square Enix Games Showcase Recap

Square Enix was the next online presentation to grace Day 2 of E3 2021. Although there weren’t too many surprises (thanks to leaks), it was still an impressive showing. Here’s what we saw.

Guardians of the Galaxy

The show kicked off with an extensive look at Eidos Montreal‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. They made a big point that you are playing as Peter Quill in this adventure against the villain Lady Hellbender. We were treated to a developer deep dive and extensive gameplay footage in addition to the trailer reveal. It arrives on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on October 26th, 2021.

Classic Final Fantasy Games on Steam and mobile

We didn’t get much information here. No dates or anything, just a “coming soon”. But it’s nice to know we’ll have the option to play these 2D classics on Steam, Android, or iOS sometime in the near future.

Legend of Mana

This was short and sweet, but we did get a release date of June 24th of this year.

Marvel’s Avengers – “War for Wakanda”

We may not have loved this game as others, but it’s still interesting to see an update to the game.

Hitman Sniper: The Shadows

The mobile game gets additional content later this year. You can get a quick preview in the trailer below.

Nier Re[in]carnation

Zack should be excited, as there’s a new entry in the Nier universe. Nier Reincarnation hits mobile later this year.

Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius

The Final Fantasy spinoff title is getting a mobile version to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the game. Check it out below.

Babylon’s Fall

Platinum Games unveiled their online multiplayer games-as-a-service title, Babylon’s Fall. It has a watercolored art style, but we don’t know much more about this one. We’ll have to stay tuned for more.

Life is Strange Remastered

We’re big fans of Life is Strange here, and the first two games are getting remastered. Look for these to drop on September 30th.

Life is Strange: True Colors

The next game in the Life is Strange universe has us following Alex, a new character. She has different powers from Max, and it looks to follow an interesting story revolving her solving the murder of her brother. As a bonus, if you preorder, it comes with the remastered collection. True Colors releases September 10th.

Stranger of Paradise – Final Fantasy Origin

We caught wind of the possibility of a Souls-like game in the Final Fantasy universe, and it turns out that the rumors were true. Square Enix Japan unveiled Stranger of Paradise – Final Fantasy Origin, but we don’t know what it’s an origin of just yet. Is it one of the original stories, or an origin of a brand new franchise. While we wait for that answer, enjoy the reveal trailer below.

And there you have it. Although it was a relatively short presentation, there were quite a few surprises sure to put a smile on some faces. What stood out to you the most from this presentation?
