To the Rescue! | PC Preview

One of my favorite games to pick-up and play on a regular basis is simulation style games. They combine different types of skills that challenge you as a player in ways that sometimes you least expect. Now let’s combine those elements with one of my other things: dogs. So let me present to you To The Rescue!, the first digital game from Little Rock Games. So let’s take a quick look at why this could be a game for you to keep an eye out for in the future.

To the Rescue!

Save all the Doggos

On the surface, To The Rescue! appears to be a fairly simple simulation game of building a rescue shelter for dogs. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The developers have put together a much deeper experience that started with some personal experiences and inspiration. You begin the game by rescuing a dog, and after helping find its owners decide to open your own shelter to help out all the cute little dogs.

To The Rescue! does seem like a simple game, but the developers have delved much deeper and placed many high level management tasks into the game as well. Even after building your shelter, a player must also keep up their reputation in the community. Whether it be from donating time at a local hospital using the dogs for therapy or simply running an adoption drive, there is a lot to do in To The Rescue! As you continue to grow your shelter, you can assist more dogs in finding homes that are the right fit for them.

To the Rescue!

They Really do Love Their Fans

Taking care of the dogs themselves in the game is quite a rewarding task. You can customize the layout of your kennels to maximize efficiency. Each of the dogs in the game has different personalities and reacts differently to people and other dogs around them at times. Dogs also have a preference to the types of food they like to eat. The developers of To The Rescue! have even gone as far as naming all the different dogs in the game. Some of the names came from contributors to their Kickstarter campaign.

For the Love of Dogs

The interesting part about all of this is the developers wanted to help bring to light the difficult task of running a shelter to people around the world. Their goal is to encourage people to take in stray dogs or abandoned dogs, including ones that are sick and need to be nursed back to health first. It’s an amazing selfless thing to do, so much so that a sizable chunk of any profits from the game will be donated to the Petfinder Foundation to help dogs in the real world.

To the Rescue!

If you love simulation and management games, or even just dogs, this could be a game for you to check out. I think its cute art design will appeal to a wide audience. With a huge variety of tasks to accomplish in To The Rescue!, you can be kept busy for hours and also be helping a good cause. Plus, as a side note, you can always play the mini games with the dogs to put a smile on your face.
