E3 2021

E3 2021 | Nintendo Direct & Treehouse Recaps

Nintendo had a relatively quite E3 presentation. There were a few surprises, for sure, but even more notable were the absences. Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 remain ghosts. Still, Zelda and Metroid both got a decent amount of love. Nothing earth-shattering, but a fine year all the same.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Exciting nobody, Tekken mainstay Kazuya has joined the fighter fray for Smash.

Life is Strange

Both Life is Strange: Remastered and Life is Strange: True Colors are coming to Nintendo Switch on September 10th. That’s a lot of teen angst in one day.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Square Enix’s exciting new Marvel game is coming to Switch as well, on its October 26th release date.

Worms: Rumble

Released last year everywhere else, Worms: Rumble is coming to the console it was probably best for anyway. Right around the corner for June 23.

Astria Ascending

This beautiful JRPG is heading the Switch way sometime in 2021.

Two Point Campus

The follow-up to Two Points Hospital is coming to Switch. I’m sure somebody’s excited about that somewhere.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania

Drive yourself bananas with an absurd amount of Super Monkey Ball games on October 5th.

Mario Party: Superstars

Headed our way on October 29th is the next entry in the Mario Party franchise. It only took 20 years, but you can finally save mid-match. What a revolution.

Metroid: Dread

Undoubtedly the highlight of the show, this is the next 2D Metroid game. It’s a direct sequel to Metroid: Fusion and promises to “close the story arc.” Bizarrely, Metroid: Fusion is still stranded on the GBA. More bizarrely, Metroid Prime 4 is silently wafting into obscurity.

Just Dance 2022

November 4th. Yay. I guess

Cruisi’n Blast

What a blast from the past this one is.

Trailer forthcoming.

Dragonball Z: Kakarot

Experience the saga in video game format, for the 157th time, on September 24th.

Mario Golf: Super Rush

Tee up with your buddies June 25th.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Also on June 25th, the turn-based spinoff to Monster Hunter continues.

Wario Ware: Get it Together

People love Wario Ware. I am not those people. On September 10th, those people can rejoice together far away from me.

Shin Megami Tensei V

On November 12th, you can barrel through a post-apocalyptic Tokyo hellscape. The long-running JRPG franchise is hard as hell, and this looks no different.

Danganronpa: Decadence

The franchise gets collected up later this year for Nintendo Switch.

Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water

Formerly a Wii U exclusive, this episodic horror hit comes to Switch later this year.

Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part One

The DLC is incoming.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 HD

Another June 25th release. It’s also awesome.

Strange Brigade

Releasing this very day. Co-op fans rejoice!

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Defying all odds, it would appear Mario + Rabbids was enough of a hit to demand a sequel.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

Remakes are all the rage right now, and it would appear not even Advance Wars is immune.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

An expansion pass was unveiled, with the first chapter, Pulse of the Ancients, coming right around the corner on June 18th.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD

This is your reminder to get your pre-order in before July 16th.

Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda Anniversary Edition

This fun little gadget contains The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventures of Link, and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. Coming November 12th.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

The teasiest of teases here. Almost skin to showing nothing at all, though it does look pretty cool.
