WheelMates Public Demo Now Live on Steam
The cooperative R/C adventure WheelMates, created by developer FireVolt, has officially released its first public demo on PC via Steam. This title invites two drivers to navigate the secret-riddled home of an eccentric missing scientist. The full game is planned for a future release on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This new demo builds upon previous playtests by opening the garage area. This new space is available for exploration alongside the previously seen kitchen. Players must work together to find hidden paths. They will solve puzzles using specialized gear like the magnet grab and rope swing.
The experience emphasizes shared problem solving without the pressure of timers. This allows duos to move at their own preferred pace. New features included in the demo are reworked physics for more intuitive driving. The update also includes improved camera controls and localization for 14 different languages. Fans can choose to play together via online connectivity. They can also try the newly added local split screen mode. As players perform stunts, they will drift through furniture or ventilation systems. These areas contain clues regarding the whereabouts of the professor. FireVolt has also released a new trailer alongside the demo. This video showcases backstory and fresh gameplay footage.

My Thoughts
We’ve heard about Scott and Kevin’s early adventures with WheelMates on an episode back in February. They were engaged and charmed by the co-op thrills and were excited to see what came next. It looks like we finally have an answer. While the release date is still a vague “2026,” we can certainly build excitement through the new offerings in this demo. The Gaming Outsider is ready, but how about you?
