E3 2018

Ubisoft’s E3 2018 Press Conference Recap

At last year’s E3, Ubisoft brought it. They showed us the games we craved and revealed a partnership with Nintendo that no one saw coming. Could they top last year’s stunning showing? The answer might surprise you. Here’s a recap of all of the announcements that took place at this year’s press conference from Ubisoft. We’ve included links for every trailer was was shown off as well.

Just Dance 2019

It seems to be Ubisoft’s MO to start every show with a dancing game, and this year was no different. While we fully admit that this series of games is the epitome of games that “aren’t for us”, it’s hard to argue their popularity. So for those of you still interesting in dancing in front of your television screen, here’s the trailer.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

Last year’s reveal of Beyond Good & Evil 2 was a bit of a shock for multiple reasons. First off, we had no idea that it even existed and that it would be full out coarse language. We were also very perplexed that Jade was nowhere to be seen in the first trailer. All of that is put to rest now with the newest trailer for the game, and the character from the original game has finally been revealed. We’ve got more than one on our team that are looking forward to this game.

We also had an appearance by Hollywood actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is spearheading a project called Space Monkey. While it’s not a game, he’s promising an outlet for musicians to create content for others to experience all around the world.

Trials Rising

While we can’t believe that these games are still being made, it’s hard to argue against the existence of Trials Rising. The latest trailer looks to lean in a bit more on the multiplayer aspect and offers some highly polished graphics. Look for this one in February of 2019.

Rainbow Six Siege Documentary

Although it might seem like a strange place to show it off, we’re apparently getting an eSports documentary about Rainbow Six Siege. Check out the trailer for Another Mindset at the link below.

The Division 2

We saw The Division 2 at its official reveal during Microsoft’s Press Conference last night. However, Ubisoft decided to show it off even more with a new cinematic trailer that you can watch here.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle DLC

One of the biggest surprises from last year’s E3 was the partnership between Ubisoft and Nintendo. We’re still amazed that Nintendo allowed anyone else to touch the characters from the Mario franchise as at all. It turned out to be a very fruitful venture, however, as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has proved successful. And now we’re getting DLC for the game with another character from the series: Donkey Kong!

Skull & Bones

At last year’s press conference, Ubisoft unveiled Skull & Bones, which appeared to take the sailing aspect from the Assassin’s Creed series and made an entire game out of it. The newest cinematic trailer looks nothing short of stunning. We’re talking jaw-dropping quality. We’re looking forward to getting out hands on this one for certain.

Transference

Elijah Wood took the stage again at this conference to talk about Transference, a title on which he is collaborating. The new trailer shows a mixture of actual footage and game footage to create a truly creepy atmosphere. We did learn that this will not be exclusive to VR platforms, so console owners will be able to check it out as well.

Starlink: Battle for Atlas

When Ubisoft unveiled Starlink: Battle for Atlas last year, we admittedly felt the “toys to life” concept had run its course. We’re very glad that they didn’t listen to us because Starlink: Battle for Atlas looks like a ton of fun. Building your own toy and seeing it come to life as a playable ship in-game sounds amazing. If that wasn’t cool enough, the second trailer showed that the legendary Starfox will be making an appearance in this game. Yet again, Ubisoft forms a bond with Nintendo. I feel as if we’re on the brink of something very special. Check out both trailers below.

For Honor: Marching Fire

For Honor is getting a DLC called Marching Fire. The trailer is almost entirely cinematic, and the DLC drops on October 16 later this year.

The Crew 2

The Crew 2 is another game that was unveiled at last year’s E3, but we’re getting much closer to launch. The trailer reminds of the various vehicles you can pilot in this racing game. We also have a beta available on June 21st.

Jump Force

We saw Jump Force at Microsoft’s press conference yesterday, but here’s another look at the anime collaboration. Enjoy.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey

Yes, we knew this one was coming thanks to a leak from earlier this week. But that doesn’t make the announcement of Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey any less special. This game takes place in Greece and includes a lot of the mythology from that era. It’s everything we hoped for and more. Stay tuned for more information. In the meantime, Ubisoft showed off some gameplay footage in addition to the reveal trailer. It releases on October 5th.

And that’s a wrap on Ubisoft. It was quite a showing, and we can’t wait to get our hands on many of the games shown off at this press conference. Stay tuned for a reactions podcast from The GO crew, which will be added to this post in the near future.
